Khuti Puja is a customary ritual before putting up pandals, to initiate the durga puja festivities. Khuti Puja means the worshiping of bamboo pillars that will erect the pandal of Durga Puja in the next few months. Khuti puja tradition comes from the tradition of centuries-old 'Kathamo puja' or the wooden frame on which the clay idol is built at 'bonedi barir pujo' (household pujas). So, 'Khuti Puja' means that Bengali's most favorite festival is not far away.
